Find Gluten Free UK is a directory of places to eat for people with coeliac disease and anyone avoiding gluten. Our aim is simple: you should know how a kitchen handles gluten before you book a table.
Why we built it
A gluten-free label on a menu does not tell you enough. For someone with coeliac disease, what matters is how the food is prepared: whether the kitchen also handles gluten, whether the fryer is shared, and whether staff follow a clear procedure. Those details are often hard to find, so we put them at the top of every listing.
Our coeliac safety standards
Every venue is listed under one of three kitchen set-ups:
- Dedicated kitchen. Nothing containing gluten is prepared on the premises.
- Separate prep area. Gluten-free food is prepared in its own area of the kitchen.
- Shared kitchen with protocol. One kitchen, with a cross-contamination procedure in place.
Alongside the kitchen set-up, a listing can show separate fryers, Coeliac UK accreditation and gluten-free beer. We show these only when they have been confirmed. If something has not been confirmed, the listing says so.
How to use a listing
A listing is a starting point, not a guarantee. Kitchens change staff, suppliers and menus, so always tell the venue about your dietary needs and check with them before you order.
Run a venue?
If you run a kitchen that takes gluten-free food seriously, you can add it to the directory. See our listing plans or get in touch.
Questions & Answers
How do you decide what to say about a venue's coeliac safety?
We record how each kitchen handles gluten, using what the venue itself says: a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, a separate preparation area, or a shared kitchen with a cross-contamination procedure. We also show separate fryers and Coeliac UK accreditation when they have been confirmed. We do not inspect or certify venues, and if a detail has not been confirmed the listing says so.
Does a listing guarantee the food is safe for me?
No. A listing is a starting point, not a guarantee. Kitchens change staff, suppliers and menus, so always tell the venue you have coeliac disease or need to avoid gluten, and check how your food will be prepared before you order.
I own a venue. How do I add it or claim my listing?
If your venue is not in the directory yet, use the Submit Your Venue form. If it is already listed, use the Claim Your Listing form so you can correct details and add your safety procedures. A basic listing is free.
What do the paid plans cost?
Paid plans are Standard at £9 a month, Premium at £19 a month and Featured at £39 a month. Higher plans give your venue more visibility in the directory. See the Pricing page for what each plan includes.
